The 16 local government chairmen in Kwara State have taken delivery of 1,200 bags of rice from the Federal Government to be distributed to the less privileged across the state to cushion the effects of the recent fuel subsidy removal.

The local government authorities will work together with the traditional institutions, community-based groups and other stakeholders to reach the beneficiaries on a non-partisan basis.

This is just one of the many measures that the Kwara State Government has put in place to cushion the effects of the fuel subsidy removal. The state government has also rolled out several other palliatives, including the ongoing e-process to give stipends to students of Kwara State origin.

The distribution of the rice is expected to begin in the coming days. The local government authorities have assured that the distribution will be transparent and fair, and that all eligible beneficiaries will receive the assistance they need.
