Fuel Subsidy: Kwara Govt Roll Out Supports For Small Traders, Others

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq

The Kwara State Government has started distributing financial assistance to petty traders and other individuals who are at the bottom of the economic ladder.

This development was contained in a statement issued by the KWASSIP Office, signed by Mrs. Roseline Ajanaku, the Executive Secretary of KWASSIP, on August 15, 2023.

According to the statement, the initiative is part of the government’s response to the recent removal of fuel subsidy. The disbursement is being carried out through the Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP), and the beneficiaries are mainly petty traders and vulnerable individuals who were previously identified under the programme.

This phase of the disbursement includes 1,551 petty traders and 11,865 safety net beneficiaries. The government has been providing various forms of support to different segments of the state, such as public sector workers and students, and recently began distributing food palliatives to the most vulnerable individuals with the help of local administrations and community-based groups.
