Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, distributed 1,000 life jackets to the people of Patigi to ensure their safety during water travel.
He presented the life jackets to Etsu Patigi Alhaji Umar Bologi II after a meeting with traditional Leaders to discuss security and the well-being of the community.
The Governor pledged to extend the same gesture to other riverine areas in the state to promote safe water travel.
The event was attended by various dignitaries including the Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, Hon. Jide Asonibare, and the Vice Chairman of the Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Etsu Patigi Alhaji Umar Bologi II.
Etsu Bologi II expressed gratitude for the Governor’s efforts in protecting the people of Patigi from boat accidents.
The Government has also been working with the National Inland Waterways Authority to enhance water travel and safety.
