Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to address the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York on Tuesday, September 19.
This will be Tinubu’s first appearance at the Assembly, where he will speak to world leaders during the evening session.
He will be the fifth African leader to speak on the first day of the gathering, according to the speakers list provided by the Office of the General Assembly President. Tinubu is listed as the 14th speaker out of a total of 20 leaders on the first day’s agenda.
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa will be the first African leader to speak in the morning session, while Tinubu will deliver his statement in the afternoon session around 6pm.
Other African leaders, including the Presidents of Algeria, Morocco, Mozambique, and Senegal, are also expected to address the gathering during the afternoon session.
The President of Brazil, Luiz da Sliva, will be the first world leader to present his address, followed by U.S. President Joe Biden.
The 78th session of the UNGA will begin on Tuesday, September 5, with the inauguration of the new President, Dennis Francis of Trinidad and Tobago.
The high-level General Debate, including the general discussion, will take place from September 19 to September 29.
The theme of this year’s General Assembly is “rebuilding trust and reigniting global solidarity: accelerating action on the 2030 Agenda and its sustainable development goals towards peace, prosperity, progress, and sustainability for all.”
