UniJos Refutes Increasing Charges on Certificate Collection

By Nurat Uthman

The University of Jos management has released a statement refuting the claims circulating on social media that the university will be imposing additional charges for the collection of certificates starting from September 2023.

A false message has been shared across various social media platforms stating, “If you graduated from Unijos between 1900 and the present, hurry and collect your certificate before August 30th to avoid the exorbitant price increase. The current price is 5,700 Naira, but it will rise to 25,000 Naira in September.”

However, Abdullahi Abdullahi, the Senior Deputy Registrar, Information and Publications of the University, has confirmed that this information is completely untrue.

In his statement, Abdullahi stated, “The University of Jos management has become aware of a misleading piece of information circulating on social media platforms regarding the alleged imposition of extra charges for certificate collection from the university starting from September 2023. We would like to clarify that these claims are entirely false and should not be taken seriously.”

He further emphasized that the charges for certificate collection have not been changed, and no new fees or increases have been implemented.

Abdullahi assured that if any changes in charges were to occur in the future, they would be officially communicated through the university’s official channels to all students, alumni, and the public.

Abdullahi urged the public to disregard any rumors or misinformation, especially on social media, and advised citizens to always verify official notifications and updates from the university through their website (www.unijos.edu.ng), their radio station (ICE FM 96.1), and other traditional media channels.
