The national government has announced its plans to include the families of soldiers who have been wounded or killed in the national social register and poverty alleviation programs.
Dr. Betta Edu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, shared this information during a meeting with Gen. Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff, in Abuja on Monday.
Edu emphasized the importance of supporting the families of deceased soldiers and expressed the desire to expand the social register to include military personnel affected by war or those who had left their families behind.
She requested data from the military to ensure their inclusion in the social register.
Edu also discussed the need for collaboration with the military to address humanitarian crises across the country. Gen. Musa assured the minister of the military’s commitment to supporting her in achieving the ministry’s goals.
He acknowledged the connection between military operations and humanitarian aid and expressed optimism that the collaboration would be successful.
