By Nurat Uthman

The Kano State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has taken part in the nationwide warning strike by closing down government offices and other facilities in the state.

The enforcement action began as early as 5 a.m. on Tuesday morning.

Ado Riruwai, the State Vice Chairman of the union, led the exercise and confirmed that all government offices in the state had been shut down.

Riruwai, who also serves as the Chairman of the Private Sector Unions in the state, stated that the power sector and banks were also affected.

The union was heading to the airport to prevent any flights from taking off. Riruwai emphasized that all government offices were securely locked.

One of the facilities closed down was the head office of the Kano Electric Distribution Company (KEDCO).

The NLC had previously announced the two-day warning strike in protest of the fuel subsidy removal, which has led to significant suffering and impoverishment across the country.
