The Bauchi State Police Command has placed operatives and residents on high alert for potential security threats during the ember months.
This information was conveyed by SP Ahmed Wakil, the command’s spokesperson, in a statement released on Saturday in Bauchi.
The command is collaborating closely with other security agencies to ensure that the peace enjoyed during the ember months is not disrupted by anyone or any group.
The crimes the command is actively working to prevent include herders/farmers’ conflicts, communal clashes, armed robbery, kidnapping, abduction, road traffic accidents, theft of farm produce, mischief, and youth unrest.
To enhance overall safety and security in the state, the public is advised to adhere to proactive security measures.
The spokesperson also urged organizations to refrain from engaging in mischief or any activities that could lead to the breakdown of law and order.
Farmers are advised to remove their produce from the fields before herders begin grazing freely, as failure to do so could escalate tensions.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Muhammad, emphasized the command’s unwavering dedication to creating a crime-free society in the state and stressed the importance of community engagement in crime prevention and control.
The proactive measures taken by the command are based on credible intelligence and analysis of identified security threats. Perpetrators of crime and criminality are warned to leave the state or face the consequences that await them.
