Nigeria weightlifting sensation Ayodele Rose has dedicated her weightlifting gold medal at the ongoing 2023 African Games in Ghana to her supportive Nigerian fans.
The teenage prodigy alongside Nigerian compatriot Joy Eze triumphed in the weightlifting 64kg and 71kg category respectively.
Speaking after the victory, a delighted Rose with her gold medal placed beautifully on her neck stated how difficult it’s been for her to adapt to the Ghanaian culture and food but she is glad that her efforts have been duly rewarded.
“It’s been some tough months for me here in Ghana, but I have been able to scale through the challenges and achieve this gold medal”.
“I want to say thank you to the Nigerian fans for their massive support and thanks to my family, coaches and loved ones. They made this moment memorable for me”, she added.
Ruth Ayodele is making her debut in the Africa Games and with her triumph, she already has a memory to last her a lifetime.
Ayodele, competing in the 64kg won gold in snatch, clean and jerk and total. She lifted 94kg in snatch, 144kg in clean and jerk and a total of 208kg to claim all the three gold medals at stake.
