The Deputy Senate Leader and Senator representing Kwara South, Arc Oyelola Yisa Ashiru, has disbursed N15 million to members of the Alajobi Multi-Purpose Co-operative.

This initiative is inline with the Senator’s vision to ensuring a stronger and sustainable economy stability within the Kwara South Senatorial district.

The newly disbursed N15 Million Naira marks the third phase of support provided by the Senator to the cooperative, a support group under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Beneficiaries of this recent aid were chosen from various Local Government Areas within Kwara South Senatorial district.

The Deputy Senate Leader stressed that the financial assistance aims to promote economic self-reliance among his constituents, viewing it as a crucial step in addressing the prevalent economic challenges and hunger affecting the region.

“This support is part of our ongoing efforts towards wealth creation and ensuring our people achieve economic independence”

“It is the most effective step we can take to alleviate the current economic hardship and hunger,” he stated.

The Senator’s engagement with the cooperative began in September 2023 when he revitalized the Alajobi Co-operative Society with an initial N20 million. The first funding phase was utilized to acquire five tricycles and three motorcycles, which were distributed among cooperative members.

Additionally, a portion of the grant was given as financial aid to assist some members in starting their own businesses.

The second phase, which took place in January 2024, extended aid to cooperative members from Ekiti, Oke-Ero, and Oyun Local Governments. During this phase, members received tricycles, motorcycles, and monetary grants ranging from N200,000 to N500,000, offering essential relief amidst the nation’s challenging economic environment.

This continued support from Senator Ashiru underscores his commitment to enhancing the economic well-being of his constituents and underscores the important role of cooperative societies in community development and poverty reduction.
