A viral video on TikTok and other social media platforms like 9jafilms and pluggers_zone_1 claimed that the popular movie director Tope Adebayo had passed away.
However, our fact-checking investigation reveals that this information is entirely false.
To confirm the authenticity of the story, our reporter subjected the image and post to the following methodologies.
I. Mainstream Media Search:
We searched for any reputable news sources that had reported on Tope Adebayo’s alleged demise but found none.
II. Reverse Image Search:
We conducted a Google Reverse Image Search and used TinEye, another image fact-checking platform, to verify the authenticity of the image. Both searches yielded zero results.
III. Direct Contact:
After thoroughly investigated the authenticity of the image with confirmation of no matches.
Our Reporter goes further by reaching out to Tope Adebayo through his official WhatsApp account at 6:54 pm on June 21, 2024, but received no response.
A follow-up phone call at 6:58 pm was answered, and Tope Adebayo confirmed that the rumors were entirely false.
Findings:
Our investigation conclusively as at 6:58pm yesterday shows that Tope Adebayo is alive and healthy, contrary to the misleading social media post.
We urge the public to disregard the fake news and rely on credible sources for information.
