KWASU: Igbomina National Students Union Celebrates ‘Asa Igbomina’ With Cultural Fervor

The Igbomina National Students Union (INSU), KWASU Chapter has been commended for setting the benchmark for cultural preservation.

This commendation follows a vibrant cultural event, ‘Asa Igbomina’ organized by the Leadership of INSU KWASU Chapter held at the CVA, Kwara State University, Malate. With the theme; “Sustaining The Cultural Heritage Of Igbomina In The 21st Century”, the event resonated throughout the gathering, celebrating the rich cultural legacy of the Igbomina people.

In his address, the INSU President, Atunde Muiz Abolaji emphasized the importance of unity and celebrating Igbomina heritage, highlighting the union’s commitment to preserving cultural heritage.

On his part, KWASU VC, Prof. Shaykh-Lukman Alade Jimoh represented by Dr Tajudeen, commended the Igbomina National Students Union for their efforts in promoting cultural preservation, while Hon. Ishola Olateju Olohungbebe praised the initiative, acknowledging the significance of cultural heritage in shaping our identity.

The Akeem Ayinla Foundation representative expressed willingness to collaborate with INSU on youth-centric initiatives, fostering a partnership that promotes cultural preservation and youth development.

The colorful event also featured an Award presentation to deserving personalities, including the KWASU VC, Hon. Ishola Olateju Olohungbebe, and Abdulmutakeem Olomu (represented by Mariam, Former Vice President, INSU KWASU Chapter), recognizing their contributions to cultural preservation and student development.

Participants recited the INSU Anthem, and students showcased their cultural heritage through music, dance, and attire, filling the atmosphere with vibrant colors and rhythms.

The event also featured a keynote address by a renowned cultural expert, who highlighted the importance of sustaining cultural heritage in the face of modernization.

Participants reacted positively to the event, expressing their appreciation for the celebration of Igbomina heritage. “The event is a laudable step towards preserving our cultural heritage, ” said a student.

The event fostered a sense of community and celebration among the attendees, reinforcing the importance of cultural heritage in shaping our identity.

Other personalities present at the event included Hon. Ishola Olateju Olohungbebe, representative of the Akeem Ayinla Foundation, Dean Student Affairs, Prof Rauf Ambali, Staff Adviser, Dr Mrs Afusat Adewale, and former Vice President, INSU KWASU Chapter, Mariam.
Ayinla Sohliha (PRO INSU KWASU Chapter), Jaiye Ola (NAPPAD President), and Abdulmutakeem Olomu (Personal Assistant to the Founder of BTA Foundation, Barr Titilope Akogun).

The ‘Asa Igbomina’ celebration successfully promoted the preservation of Igbomina cultural heritage, uniting students, staff, and dignitaries in a shared appreciation for their rich cultural legacy.
