PDP Suffers Setback In Kwara, As Saraki’s Ally Makanjuola Resigns

The major opposition party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has suffered a major setback as Hon. Gbenga Makanjuola an ally of the Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki resigned from the in early hours of today.

In a letter dated July 30, 2024, addressed to the Ward Chairman, PDP, Omu-Aran Ward 1, and the State Charman, Hon. Makanjuola announced his resignation from the party, effective immediately.

While thanking God Almighty and the party members and leadership at the ward, local, and state levels for the opportunity to serve, Hon. Makanjuola did not disclose his reasons for resigning.

The letter reads;

People’s Democratic Party, Omu-Aran Ward 1, Irepodun Local Government Area, Kwara State.

Dear sir.

RESIGNATION FROM THE PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY (PDP).

I write to formally inform you of the resignation of my membership from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), effective from this 30th day of July, 2024.

“While I want to thank God Almighty for the journey so far, many thanks to the members and leadership of the party at the ward, Local, and State levels for the opportunity.”

The development comes as the party prepares for the upcoming Local Government elections, and Hon. Makanjuola’s resignation is seen as a significant setback for the PDP in Irepodun LGA and Kwara State at large.
