A small number of determined demonstrators on Saturday returned to the Kano streets, defying a curfew imposed by Governor Yusuf on Thursday.
The protesters, brandishing placards, gathered at Mandawari, Kofar Kwaru, and parts of the Nasarawa area of Kano State, chanting, “We would rather be killed by a bullet than killed by hunger.”
The #EndBadGovernance protests to demand good governance and improved economy entered the third day on Saturday
The protest which began peacefully on Thursday turned violent at Sani Mainage, where unruly elements made bonfire and blocked major streets.
This led to a standoff with police operatives who in attempts to disperse the protesters, fired tear gas and warning shots into the air
