‘Alumnus Of The Year’: Kwara Gov’s Media Aide Bags Award Of Excellence At KWASU




The Senior Special Assistant to Kwara State Governor on Communications, Ibraheem Abdullateef, has bagged an award of excellence from the National Association of Information and Communication Technology Students (NAICTS), Kwara State University (KWASU) chapter.

The student association named the governor’s media aide ‘Alumnus of the Year’.

Abdullateef earned a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from the university. On campus, he won respect as a writer, peer-to-peer tutor, and the organiser of arguably the first and biggest student summit in commemoration of the International Youth Day in 2021.

He was also credited with pushing initiatives like TheWriteUp, #OneMalete, and KWASULearn to deepen literacy, unity between students and the host community, and digital innovation to the commendation of the university management.

Abdullateef worked as a journalist and communications executive before joining public service.

He was first appointed Special Assistant on  Communications by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in 2023, and later elevated to the position of Senior Special Assistant in the second term of the administration.

Before his appointment, Abdullateef served as the Representative of Kwara Central Senatorial District at the Nigerian Youth Parliament (NYP). He also founded Torchbearers Impact Network, an NGO dedicated to youth development and mentorship programmes.

Abdullateef is also the Convener of Raise, a public platform for policy debate and experience sharing between accomplished leaders and young people, including students in Kwara State.

He is noted to have been a facilitator and speaker at several summits and conferences at the local and national level for the advancement and development of students and youth constituency in Nigeria.

In his reaction, the governor’s aide said he felt humbled to be recognised as the ‘Alumnus of the Year’.

“I am grateful for this recognition and inspired to continue serving the state, God, and humanity,” he added.
