Vote Of Confidence: Igbomina Youth Assembly Rally Behind Provost Lamidi, Laud Achievements


The Igbomina Youth Assembly has thrown its weight behind the Provost of the College of Nursing Sciences, Oke-Ode, Mr. Quadri Olanrewaju Lamidi, passing a vote of confidence on his leadership and urging Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq of Kwara State to retain him in office, citing his numerous achievements and commitment to the development of the college and the community.

This was disclosed by the group under the Leadership of the President, Engr Jimoh Rasheed Temitope during a press conference held at the Igbomina House, Ganmo, on Friday, August 16, 2024.

The assembly also praised the Governor’s positive disposition towards youths and their development.

The assembly specifically lauded the governor’s decision to establish the College of Nursing Sciences, Oke-Ode, which has brought significant development to the host community while appreciating the appointment of Mr. Quadri Olanrewaju Lamidi as the College Provost, describing it as a blessing to the college and the community.

The group highlighted the numerous achievements of Provost Lamidi since his assumption of office in October 2022, including:

– Commencement of computer-based tests for students’ examinations
– Establishment of two additional schools (School of Midwifery and School of Public Health Nursing)
– Procurement of a coaster bus for students’ clinical postings
– Installation of solar power facilities
– Appointment of qualified lecturers
– Completion of abandoned water and classroom projects
– Successful accreditations with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria and the National Board for Technical Education
– Construction of a football field and provision of sporting facilities
– Inclusion of the college in the UTME list of Joint Admission and Matriculation Board
– Refurbishment of hostels for students

The Igbomina Youth Assembly on this note called on Governor AbdulRazaq to continue supporting the current leadership of the college under Provost Lamidi to ensure sustainability of the development being enjoyed by the college and the host community.

The assembly emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation among all members of the college to guarantee peace and sustainable development that can deliver educational excellence.

The group while expressing their dissatisfaction and shock of lost of the bid to host the Kwara State University of Education in Igbomina Land noted that it has become imperative that it guide, monitor and protect the few ones left at hand.

They reiterate the need for the Government to support the current leadership of the college under Mr. Quadri Olanrewaju Lamidi to ensure sustainability of the development being enjoyed by the college and by extension the host community. Noting that the support of the Gov will empower the provost to keep promoting the good work of his administration in the institution.

They group expressed profound gratitude to the Governor for his untiring efforts and commitment to the development of Kwara State.
