The Federal University of Health Science Ila-Orangun (FUHSI), Governing Council led by the Pro-chancellor and Chairman, Prof. Wale Sulaiman, (CON), Vice Chancellor, Professor Akeem Olawale Lasisi, Registrar, Mr. Kassim Kayode Babamale, Dr. Abba Yakubu Abdallah, Mr. Austin and other distinguished members of the Governing Council paid a courtesy visit to His Excellency (HE), Governor Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, the Osun State Governor at the Osun State Government House on Thursday 22nd, August 2024.
The FUHSI Governing Council members were received by the Osun State Deputy Governor, HE. Prince Kola Adewusi, at the State House. The Deputy Governor commended HE. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR for putting up a tremendous team of professionals as board members of the citadel of medical knowledge. According to him, “FUHSI is blessed to have a distinguished academician and world-renowned Professor of Neurosurgery as the pioneering Pro-chancellor and Chairman Governing Council of the institution. I have no doubt that the institution is in the right hands with the caliber of people that are plotting its affairs. The institution is set out to be the best of its kind in Nigeria under the new leadership. Our doors are open for strategic partnership with the institution and we will continue to support your programs”.
The Pro-chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council FUHSI, Prof. Sulaiman, in his remark, appreciated HE. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR for bringing together distinguished ladies and gentlemen who have excelled in their respective fields to lead one of the best Federal University of Health Science not just in Nigeria but in the world. According to him, “The first choice of principal officers of the institution illustrates the President’s determination to make the institution one of the best. The VC of the institution, Professor Lassi, an outstanding Professor of Ear and Throat (ENT), is doing a fantastic job with the institution; the University is clearly differentiated from other Universities in Nigeria. I am honored and blessed to be serving with distinguished professors and doctors who have a lot of experience and expertise to bring to the Governing Council; with the full support of the principal officers, We will not disappoint you, His Excellency. We will strive to make Osun State become one of the major destination centers for medical tourism where all students that want to study medicine will want to come to FUHSI.”
The VC of FUHSI, Prof. Akeem Lasisi urges the principal officers to bring their professionalism and experience into bear in the management of the young University. According to him, “the University needs a solid foundation, and I am very committed to building that legacy during my tenure as the Vice-Chancellor. He called on the Osun State government to continue to support the institution in the area of security and other critical areas.”
The FUHSI Governing Council members were accompanied by directors, professors, doctors, and senior lecturers from the institution to the Osun State House.
