Oke-Ode town was filled with excitement today as members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oke-ode Ward I came out in large numbers to show their full support for Hon. Femi Yusuf and Hon. Fatai Alabi Lawal, who are contesting for the positions of Chairman and Councilor respectively in the upcoming local government elections.
The carnival-like ward meeting, which took place today 7th September, 2024 had a huge turnout of party members and leaders from the ward, all coming together to back the candidates. Hon. Fatai Alabi Lawal, the APC candidate for the ward councilor, received a lot of encouragement and support from party members, showing that people have great trust in his ability to represent them well.
Speaking at the gathering, Barrister Bisiriyu Adebayo Jejelola a one-time minority leader of the Ifelodun legislative council, pioneer state Secretary of People Democratic Party (PDP), High chief of Oke-ode and the leader of the party in the ward, made it clear that Hon. Fatai Alabi Lawal’s candidacy emerged through a transparent primary election held in the ward, with no imposition whatsoever. This statement was met with applause, showing the party’s commitment to fairness and transparency.
The meeting was also attended by other aspirants who took part in the primary election, showing that there is unity and collective support for the chosen candidates.
The meeting was marked by speeches from key party leaders like Hon Rasaq Lawal, Hon Risikat Atobiloye former councilor of the ward, Hon Babatunde Malik former vice chairman of the party in Ifelodun local government, Mr Amuda Lawal, Mr Raheem Alabi (Afacon), ward Woman Leader, ward Youth leader, and host of others, who expressed their commitment to ensuring victory for both Hon. Femi Yusuf and Hon. Fatai Alabi Lawal. The leaders urged all members to unite and work tirelessly to secure a successful outcome in the forthcoming elections. Members expressed their hope that these candidates will bring good leadership and development to Oke-Ode.
The event ended with an announcement that Mr Sulaimon Abdulrauf as the acting ward chairman, the party chairmanship candidate Honorable Abdulrasheed Femi Yusuf campaign train will be coming to Oke-ode town next week Saturday and there is a strong promise from the APC leaders and members to give their full support and work tirelessly for their candidates, aiming for a big win in the local government elections.
