The ancient town of OSI in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State witnessed a momentous day of rich cultural heritage on Saturday, September 14th, as the Publisher of Omumu Newsletter and Omumu Media Network (OMN) unveiled the second edition of the Omumu Cultural Talent Show.
The event, which unfolded in three magnificent sections, featured cultural competitions, debates, Osi delicacy shows, and cultural fashion displays, showcasing the vibrant cultural essence of the OSI people.
In his address, the Coordinator of Omumu Media Network, Hon. Abiodun Segun Ege, noted that the event aimed to celebrate the rich cultural tapestry of the OSI people and their invaluable contributions to Kwara State’s cultural landscape.
The colorful gathering had in attendance religious leaders, Royal Fathers, and community leaders, with opening prayers officiated by Alh Sadudeen Abdulsalam Ajisefini (Chief Imam OSI) and Pastor – Rev.CA Fabiyi CAN Chairman OSI.
The Guest Speaker, Engr Chief Asanloko AT, spoke in Osi dialects, emphasizing the significance of the cultural talent show in preserving the Osi’s cultural heritage.
The event featured a captivating cultural display dance, debate and comedy show in dialects, which left the audience in stitches. Participants showcased their talents in various aspects of OSI culture, including delicacy, music, dance, and comedy.
Reacting, Royal Fathers led by BALOGUN Osi in attendance praised the organizers for their efforts in promoting OSI culture.
“This event is a testament to the rich cultural heritage of our people,” said the Council of Chiefs.
A symbolic portrait frame was presented to the Founder of Omumu Media Network, Engr Kazim Abdulkarim in appreciation of his commitment and efforts towards the preservation of Osi’s culture.
The gathering also featured the official launch of the Omumu Media Network website, which generated donations from stakeholders among which are Dynamic Social Club.
OSI Central Secondary School clinched the first position for performing well in the cultural debate, CAC Secondary School came 2nd, Iketa Grammar School 3rd position while Ansarul Islam Secondary School emerged fourth.
In his closing remarks, the Secretary of Omumu Media Network, Amb.Owolabi Sam Ibikun, commended the Founder for his unprecedented contributions and appreciated all stakeholders for gracing the colorful gathering while assuring them that the next edition would be better and bigger.
