Kwara LG Polls: Ishaq Ahmod Thanks Supporters, Urges Calm Amidst Alleged Electoral Irregularities

Despite the controversies surrounding the Kwara State Local Government elections held on 21st September 2024, Honorable Ishaq Ahmod Abolarin, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairmanship candidate for Ekiti Local Government, has expressed his heartfelt gratitude to his supporters, well-wishers, and the people of Ekiti LGA for their unwavering support.

In a statement released Monday following the announcement of the election results and presentation of certificate of return by the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWASIEC), Abolarin condemned what he described as a ‘staged and manipulated electoral process’ under the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

“Though we faced several challenges, including the absence of official score sheets with some ballot papers already marked before the elections across the ten ward in the LGA, I want to thank my supporters for standing firm. The failure of KWASIEC to provide complete election materials was a deliberate act that deprived the people of Ekiti LGA their right to vote,” Abolarin said.

He reassured PDP members and stakeholders in Ekiti LGA that their grievances would not go unnoticed, urging calm as the party seeks redress. “I understand the frustrations of my supporters and the wider community. Our rights were denied on election day, but we will pursue justice through the appropriate legal channels. No one can silence the people’s voice in a true democracy.”

The former lawmaker and prominent PDP leader in Ekiti LGA from Osi ward ll, Ishaq acknowledged the support of his local community, Osi, extending his gratitude to community leaders, party stakeholders, and associations for their faith in his political aspirations. He also appreciated the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Ekiti LG chapter, and the Muslim Community in Ekiti LGA for their steadfast support, assuring them that their trust would not be in vain. Also appreciate the support of traditional rulers, Chiefs and other prominent stakeholders in the LGA.

“We have made our stance clear, and the people of Ekiti LGA have once again shown their commitment to good governance. I want to assure everyone that this journey is far from over. Despite the impunity of the AbdulRazaq-led administration, change is inevitable, and the expiration date of Kwara APC is drawing near.”

Abolarin expressed his appreciation to the PDP Ekiti LGA chapter for nominating him as their candidate and praised his team, including his vice chairmanship candidate, Honorable Abiodun Oluwajuwon from Koro community, and the ten councilorship candidates, for their dedication throughout the campaign.

“I am grateful for the trust placed in me, and I remain committed to seeking justice for the people of Ekiti LGA. As we await the next steps, I pray for good health and well-being for all my supporters. Together, we will continue the fight for justice and equity.”.

Abolarin signed off with a message of hope, saying, “It’s not over, until it’s over, truly Ekiti LGA deserves better”
