In commemoration of Senator Rasheed Adewolu Oladoja, Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland birthday anniversary, His Royal High, Oba AbdulFatai Talabi Oladega, the Aala of Ilala Kingdom, praises Oladoja’s patient virtues, unwavering dignity and statesmanship.
Oba Oladega commends Oladoja’s selflessness, patriotism, and integrity, demonstrated throughout his illustrious career as a successful businessman and veteran politician. According to Oba Oladega, “Senator Oladoja’s inspiring journey in politics and traditional rulership is a testament to the power of patience and perseverance. As an elected Governor of Oyo State in April 2003 under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Oladoja faced impeachment due to a political disagreement with Alhaji Lamidi Adedibu, the then gatekeeper of Oyo State politics. Instead of inciting protests, he sought justice through the courts. The Appeal Court declared his impeachment null and illegal on November 1st, 2006, a decision upheld by the Supreme Court on November 11, 2006, reinstating him on December 12, 2006. Although Oladoja didn’t win re-election in 2011 and 2015 respectively, he left office with his Integrity intact.”
“Again, the recent selection of the next Olubadan and interpretation of the Olubadan Chieftaincy Declaration reform posed a significant integrity test for Sen. Oladajo. Unsurprisingly, he handled it wisely and diplomatically, earning his coronation as Otun Olubadan.” Said Aala of Ilala.
