Nigeria’s Lookman scores twice as Atalanta beat Verona 6-1

Ademola Lookman, Super Eagles forward, excelled with two goals and two assists in Atalanta’s 6-1 victory over Hellas Verona on Saturday.

Lookman was the star of the Serie A clash, providing two assists before netting twice within the opening 30 minutes. His outstanding first-half performance earned him a standing ovation before he was substituted in the 56th minute, with Atalanta firmly in control of the game.

With this performance, Lookman now boasts 10 goal contributions in as many matches this season, including five goals and five assists. The former Everton loanee has also reached a career total of 80 goals.

Other Super Eagles players maintained their impressive form. Alex Iwobi scored a remarkable goal in Fulham’s 1-1 draw against Everton at Goodison Park, putting Fulham ahead in the 61st minute after a clever pass from Emile Smith-Rowe. Defender Calvin Bassey also played the full 90 minutes for Fulham.

Victor Boniface, who returned from a minor injury after an auto accident last weekend, scored for Leverkusen in their 2-2 draw with Werder Bremen. Boniface opened the scoring in the 30th minute, sprinting to meet Jeremy Frimpong’s cross. While Felix Agu’s own goal restored Leverkusen’s lead, a late Werder Bremen goal in the 90th minute saw both teams share the points. Boniface is on a four-match scoring streak, with eight goals in 11 matches this season, including six in the league.

In Germany, Frank Onyeka delivered a strong midfield performance in Augsburg’s surprising 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund. Onyeka led his team in pass accuracy, tackles, and interceptions.

In Belgium, Chukwubuikem Ikwuemesi found the net twice, securing a 2-0 victory for OH Leuven over Sporting Charleroi and marking his debut goals in the Super League.
