BREAKING: Senator Saliu Mustapha Bags Chieftaincy Title In Oro-Ago Kingdom

The Oloro of Oro-Ago Kingdom, His Royal Highness, Oba Johnson Olarewaju Dada, alongside the Council of Chiefs, has announced the conferment of the  chieftaincy title of Aree Atunluṣe of Oro-Ago Kingdom on the Senator representing the Kwara Central Senatorial District, Senator Saliu Mustapha.

In a letter of intent dated 11th November, 2024 and addressed to the Senator, a copy of which was cited by our correspondent, the traditional ruler formally announced the decision to confer on the Senator the esteemed chieftaincy title.

The title, which is interpreted as “Champion of Development,” recognizes the Senator’s exceptional contributions to the progress and welfare of the people cutting across socio-economic, cultural, and religious lines.

The conferment ceremony, the letter indicates, is scheduled to hold on Saturday, November 30, 2024, during the celebration of Oba Johnson Olarewaju Dada’s 10th anniversary on the throne, at the ECWA Primary School Field, Oro-Ago, Ifelodun Local Government Area, Kwara State.

Oro-Ago, the headquarters of Oro-Ago District in Ifelodun Local Government Area, Kwara State, is a historic and culturally rich community located in Nigeria’s North Central region. Known for its unique blend of tradition and modernity, Oro-Ago is a conglomeration of seven settlements and 15 clans.

The community is home to prominent figures who have excelled in diverse fields, including law, academia, engineering, and governance, prominent among whom are the Kwara State Deputy Governor, H.E. Kayode Alabi, Deacon (Chief) Dr. S.S. Ayanda, Prof. Kenneth Adeyemi, Mr. Folusho Olawole, and Hon. Justice AbdulRahim A. Ibrahim (Rtd.) of the Sharia Court of Appeal, among others.

This is not the first time Senator Mustapha would be conferred with a traditional chieftaincy title outside of his Senatorial District. It will be recalled that on Saturday, November 12, 2022, the Turaki of Ilorin Emirate was announced and coronated as the Maiyegun of Obbo-Aiyegunle by the Owa L’Obbo of Obbo-Aiyegunle, Engr. (Dr.) Samuel Oluleye Adelodun.

The Owa L’Obbo in Council said the conferment was in recognition of Senator Mustapha’s long standing friendly relationship with the community and her sons and daughters from all walks of life.
