The Kwara State Government has called on His Royal Majesty, Oba Joel Olanii Oyatoye Titiloye Olufayo II to lead the people of Oro with integrity, fairness, and compassion.
Deputy Governor of Kwara State, Mr. Kayode Alabi made this call on Monday, December 30, 2024 during the official coronation and presentation of Staff of Office to the new Oloro of Oro Kingdom in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Represented by the Executive Secretary of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), Otunba Biodun Ajiboye, the Deputy Governor who congratulated Oba Joel Olaniyi Oyatoye Titiloye Olufayo II on his ascension to the throne, also urged him to lead the people with integrity, fairness, and compassion.
“Your Royal Highness, as you ascend to the throne of your forefathers, you have been entrusted with a sacred responsibility to lead the good people of Oro Kingdom with integrity, fairness, and compassion.”
“I want to urge you to see this appointment as a call to service that will protect and preserve our collective heritage and culture” said the Deputy Governor.
He gave the assurance that the Kwara State Government will continue to work tirelessly to ensure the development of Oro Kingdom and the well-being of its people.
On his part, Rear Admiral Azeez Bayo Afolayan, the Asiwaju of Oro Kingdom, while expressing confidence in the new monarch’s capability to lead the people, said Oba Joel Olaniyi Oyatoye Titiloye Olufayo II is a man of great wisdom and integrity and he has no doubt that he will lead Oro kingdom to greater heights.
HRM Oba Ismail Yahya Alebiosu, Olupo of Ajase IPO who also congratulated the new Oloro, said it is a momentous occasion for the people of Oro Kingdom and prayed for a peaceful and prosperous reign for the Oba.
In his response, Oba Joel Olaniyi Oyatoye Titiloye Olufayo II while expressing deep appreciation to the dignitaries for attending the ceremony, promised the people a peaceful and developmental reign.
The coronation ceremony which took place at the Oro Grammar School in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State witnessed a mammoth crowd of dignitaries including traditional leaders from neighboring kingdoms, members of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Local Government Chairmen, and other top government functionaries.
The high point of the ceremony was the presentation of the Ade Ibile to Oba Joel Olaniyi Oyatoye Titiloye Olufayo II, which was done by the Asiwaju of Oro Kingdom, Rear Admiral Azeez Bayo Afolayan alongside the Council of Chiefs.
