On the 23rd of September, 2024 the Kwara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, His Excellency Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq CON sworn-in the newly elected Council Chairmen at the sixteen Local Government Areas of the state with a charge to justify the confidence reposed in them by the people and attend to their needs among others.

Three months later, the Executive Chairman of Isin Local Government Council, Hon. Prince Benjamin Jolayemi in carrying out the ‘marching order’ hit the ground running by working round the clock with his team to deliver dividends of democracy to Isin people, thereby complementing the efforts of Governor AbdulRazaq.

Isin Local Government is one of the few Areas battling with retinue of challenges of poor infrastructural facilities and with the meagre allocation from the government, nothing much could be done to upturn the fortune of the council for it to deliver to good governance and dividends of democracy to the people.

Hon. Jolayemi’s leadership qualities as a grassroots politician most especially as the immediate past Secretary of the Transition Implementation Committee, TIC have seen him running a smooth and impactful administration, making deliberate efforts to improve the lives of the people.

Among the many achievements Hon. Jolayemi’s administration has recorded within the first 90 days in office the comprehensive renovation and remodeling of the Council’s Legislative Chamber which had been in a very bad shape for more than a decade. The Chamber, when finally put to use would accommodate the Isin Local Government Legislative Arm where it will be performing its constitutional functions. Before the Hon. Jolayemi’s intervention on this Chamber, the place (see pictures) was no less than a thick forest, very bushy and overtaken by animals of different kinds.

The Chamber, now refurbished houses the Assembly floor where plenary would take place thereby providing conducive environment for the lawmakers to perform their duties, offices of the Speaker, Deputy and other principal officers as well as councilors where they would be attending to the needs of their constituencies and constituents, it will also house the office of the Development Officer, DO for Isin Local Government, Inspectorate and Chairman’s conference room, this is the first time in recent time councilors would be enjoying such facility.

Another significant achievement recorded within this period by Hon. Jolayemi’s administration is upgrading several kilometres of roads. Some of these roads are Oyegbo settlement in Oke Onigbin ward, Oke oyi in Owu ward, line between Iwo and Oke Aba towns, Adigun in Oke Onigbin ward, Owu, Iwo road, Kudu Owode line among others. On electricity, the Hon. Jolayemi-led administration has also done correction and controlling of NEPA lines and purchased insulators to improve electricity in the area.

The majority of communities in Isin are agrarian which means they are predominantly farmers, so it’s safe to conclude that with the upgrading of those roads, the people are now connected with their neighbouring tomes and settlements, this will ensure a boost for the economic activities of the area. The importance of motorable roads cannot be over emphasized, travel time is shortened, movement of people, goods and services become less hassle.

The people of Isin are predominantly farmers, they are going to be among the greatest beneficiaries of this positive development as their farm produce can now get to the market in good time and buyers even from outside the Local Government can now confidently and conveniently ply the roads to get what they want at the Agric produce market which Jolayemi’s administration is bringing back to life.

Hon. Jolayemi is also looking inward to generate more revenue for the Council through agribusiness. Presently the Department of Agriculture of the Council has resuscitated the poultry unit with a pilot study of 200 broilers that would be sold during this festive period. Several units of pigsty have also been constructed for small and medium scale intensive pig production among other initiatives geared towards revenue improvement.

The Council has also done a lot to ease access to clean and drinkable water. Since he came to the office, Hon. Jolayemi has repaired hitherto 25 boreholes across communities, villages and settlements in the Local Government Area.

The Executive Chairman of Isin Local Government Area has also advanced plans to embark on massive renovations and construction of health centres, schools and other social amenities in line with his mission and vision of making life more habitable and comfortable for the citizens.

Analysts are of the opinion that by the time the Executive Chairman completes his tenure, he would have succeeded in spreading dividends of democracy to the nooks and cranny of Isin Local Government Area.
