As Kwarans acknowledges the official commissioning of the Osi Campus of Kwara State University (KWASU), we reflect on the enduring impact of a visionary leader, Dr. Bukola Saraki. This significant event, officiated by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, marks a pivotal moment in the history of our beloved state and its commitment to educational excellence.
“KWASU, established in 2009 under the administration of Dr. Bukola Saraki was designed to be more than just a university—it was envisioned as a catalyst for entrepreneurship and community service. Today, it stands as a testament to his foresight,” said a spokesperson for a youthpopulated socio-political organization in Kwara state called Kwara Legends.
The university recently celebrated its 14th Convocation—a remarkable achievement that underscores its growth and success. “What a tremendous milestone! The 14th Convocation is a clear indication of KWASU’s sustained excellence and its role in shaping the future of our youth,” another prominent Kwara group expressed shortly after the official commissioning of the firstly established state-owned varsity.
The Osi Campus, initially conceptualized during Saraki’s tenure, is a shining example of his commitment to expanding educational opportunities in Kwara State. “The completion of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences and the introduction of new academic programs such as Estate Management, Urban and Regional Development, Geography, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, and Building, will undoubtedly spur economic growth in Osi and the surrounding areas,” another.
Noting that “the addition of programs like Geography, Urban and Regional Planning, and Estate Management marks a new era of academic expansion and innovation, originally envisioned during Saraki’s tenure,” said Kwara Legends.
Professor Binta’s remarks further highlight this development: “This campus is not just an academic center; it is an engine for economic development that will benefit the entire community.”
Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s role in completing and commissioning the Osi Campus is a commendable demonstration of leadership. “Governance is indeed a continuum. By completing this project, Governor Abdulrazaq has honored the legacy of Dr. Saraki and ensured that the vision laid out over a decade ago comes to fruition,” stated Kwara Legends. “We commend him for sustaining and building on the achievements of his predecessor.”
The commissioning of the Osi Campus is more than a ceremonial event—it is a celebration of continuity, progress, and the lasting impact of visionary leadership. “This campus is a testament to the power of sustained governance and the importance of nurturing the legacies that shape our state. We are proud to witness the fruition of Dr. Saraki’s vision and the dedication of Governor Abdulrazaq,” Kwara Legends concluded.
As KWASU continues to grow and evolve, we look forward to more milestones and achievements.
The Osi Campus stands as a beacon of hope and a symbol of what can be achieved when leadership is focused on the future of education and development.
