Pan-Yoruba Kwara Youth, a community-based youth organization representing Yoruba speaking communities in Kwara, across igbominna, Ibolo and other parts of the state including Jebba and some parts of Moro LG has called for restraint, unity, and peaceful dialogue in addressing dispute between some individuals from Offa LGA and Ilemona in Oyun LG.
The organization emphasizes the deep-rooted unity and brotherhood that have historically bound the Ibolo people together. It urges all parties to prioritize peace, as only a stable and harmonious environment can foster progress and development in the region. Pan-Yoruba Kwara Youth warns against allowing elements of discord to disrupt the longstanding peace enjoyed in the area. The group loud the legendary community development strides of Col. Nurudeen Yusuf and Mr, Azeez Yisa Bukoye, the founder of Lens Polytechnic Offa and many other prominent personalities who has contributed to monumental transformation along Offa-Ilemonna route within a very short period of time.
The organization also notes with dismay a statement credited to Lukman Salahudeen aka Ómó Adugbo, a well-known political opportunist who has consistently sought ways to remain relevant by making inflammatory statements on sensitive matters. It is not the first time Salahudeen has attempted to exploit issues of public concern for his selfish political ambitions. Having suffered political setbacks in both the 2023 elections and subsequent attempts in 2024, he has resorted to using every available opportunity to seek cheap popularity, often at the expense of peace and unity.
Pan-Yoruba Kwara Youth urges the public not to take Salahudeen’s statements seriously, as his primary interest lies in fueling unnecessary controversies for personal political gain. His track record even in student unionism shows a pattern of making baseless claims and divisive remarks, aimed more at attracting attention than contributing to meaningful discourse. It is clear that he does not have the best interests of Yoruba people in Kwara at heart, but rather seeks to manipulate situations to his advantage.
The organization calls on leaders from both sides to intervene and facilitate an amicable resolution to the land dispute. It also urges youths and stakeholders to disregard individuals like Salahudeen, who thrive on discord, and instead focus on constructive engagement that promotes peace and development. Yoruba people in Kwara must remain united, as peace is the only foundation upon which true progress can be built.
