No fewer than 500 members of the Motorcycle Operators Union of Nigeria (MOUN), formerly loyal to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), have officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This groundbreaking move is set to redefine the political landscape of Kwara State ahead of the 2027 general election.

9japarrot reports that the massive defection took place earlier today at the MOUN Secretariat, Mandate House, Post Office in the state capital.

The decampees, who were instrumental in popularizing the “Osuwa” mantra during the 2023 general election, have now adopted a new mantra: “Kwara Igba Otun De”.

According to our reporter, the decampees explained that the change in allegiance is a clear indication of their trust in Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq’s leadership and the APC’s commitment to the welfare of transport workers.

The event had in attendance top government officials, including Hon. Shekayi, the S.A Political Central; Hon. Tejidini, the M.D KWASSIP; Hon. Mogaji, the Majority Leader, KWHA; the S.A Transport; Alhaji Abdulrahman Ariwoola, the Kwara State Chairman, NURTW; Alhaji Onikijipa, the Kwara State Chairman, RTEAN; Femi Yusuf, the Executive Chairman, Ifelodun Local Government and the Host, Hon. Abdulazeez Yakubu, the Executive Chairman, Irepodun Local Government.

The gathering also featured the inauguration of the T-Mandate Okada Organization Office, spearheaded by Hon. Yakubu Tinuola, which will serve as a hub for advocacy, leadership training, and grassroots mobilization.

This development is expected to grant transport operators better access to economic empowerment initiatives, welfare programmes, and infrastructural support, thereby improving their overall well-being and standard of living.
