Prominent Anambra politician and former governorship candidate, Valentine Ozigbo, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), less than 24 hours after resigning from the Labour Party (LP).
Ozigbo, alongside Nze Afam Okpalauzuegbu, the former LP secretary, formalized their membership with the APC at their ward in Amesi, Anambra State, on Thursday, February 20, 2025.
This political move has stirred conversations within Anambra’s political landscape, as Ozigbo’s influence and grassroots support could reshape the dynamics ahead of future elections.
While addressing his supporters, Ozigbo expressed optimism about the APC’s vision, stating that his decision was driven by a desire to align with a platform focused on progress and development for the people of Anambra.
Ozigbo, who previously served as the Chief Executive Officer of Transnational Corporation of Nigeria, contested the 2021 Anambra governorship election under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but was defeated by Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
The APC has welcomed Ozigbo and Okpalauzuegbu into its fold, expressing optimism about the positive impact of their inclusion on the party’s prospects in the upcoming Anambra governorship election scheduled for November 2025.
