
The National Cereals Research Institute (NCRI), Badeggi, has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing climate-smart agriculture by actively participating in the Public Presentation of NiMet’s 2025 Seasonal Rainfall Prediction and OCP 100 Communities Soil Testing Result in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The Institute was represented by a team led by Dr. Nureni Ayanniyi, alongside Mrs. Tolulope Olawuyi and Mrs. Oduaro Adegoke. Dr. Ayanniyi delivered a presentation aligning the event’s theme with NCRI’s mandate to enhance food security through research and innovation in Rice, Acha, Beniseed, Soybean, Castor, Sugarcane and Stevia production.
The event, held at the House of Chiefs, House of Assembly Complex, Secretariat, Ibadan, was organized to provide early warning information on rainfall and temperature variability, offering critical insights for agricultural planning and climate risk management. Speaking at the event, Dr. Nureni Ayanniyi emphasized the importance of adopting climate-resilient agricultural techniques, particularly for farmers cultivating NCRI’s mandate crops. He highlighted the Institute’s ongoing research efforts in developing adaptive strategies for sustainable farming, ensuring that farmers can effectively manage the risks associated with climate variability.
The NCRI Badeggi team actively engaged with stakeholders, sharing insights on innovative farming practices, soil fertility management, and effective water use strategies to enhance agricultural productivity in the face of changing climatic conditions.
