The Women Liberty Forum has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reappoint Dr. Muheebah Dankaka as the Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), emphasizing that such a move would reinforce the administration’s commitment to gender equality, meritocracy, and institutional stability.

According to the leader of the group, Hajia Sidikat Ayobami, Dr. Dankaka remains the first and only female appointee to have led the Commission since its establishment in 1996. She argued that her reappointment would be in line with precedent, noting that the last male chairman of the FCC was granted a second term.

“Dr. Dankaka has distinguished herself through her exceptional leadership, introducing landmark reforms that have significantly improved the Commission’s operations,” Hajia Ayobami stated.

She highlighted that under Dr. Dankaka’s tenure, the FCC has undergone transformative changes, particularly in the fight against corruption. Her zero-tolerance policy on job racketeering and other unethical practices has restored credibility to the Commission.

The Forum also pointed out that reappointing Dr. Dankaka, who hails from the North, would ensure gender and regional balance in governance. They noted that while the Chairman of the Civil Service Commission is currently a male from the South, Dr. Dankaka’s continued leadership at the FCC would maintain a fair representation of both gender and regional interests.

The Women Liberty Forum has, therefore, appealed to President Tinubu and other relevant authorities to consider their call and grant Dr. Dankaka a well-deserved reappointment.
