The Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi, has reshuffled the leadership of key House committees, resulting in the removal of Hon. Rasaq Owolabi and Hon. Yissa Saba Gideon from their positions.
Hon. Rasaq Owolabi, who represents Ifelodun Constituency A and previously served as Chairman of the House Committee on Health and Environment, was allegedly removed from his position due to his attendance at Senator Saliu Mustapha’s Alubarika Empowerment program.
An inside source claims that Owolabi’s presence at the event, which featured several political figures, including Senate Deputy Majority Leader Senator Lola Ashiru, played a role in his removal.
Hon. Yissa Saba Gideon, representing Edu Local Government, was also affected by the reshuffle.
His removal is reportedly linked to his association with Ambassador Yahaya Seriki, whose 2027 governorship ambition has gained traction.
Although Seriki is an ally of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, he is said to be in contention for the same position as Speaker Yakubu Danladi, fueling internal tensions.
The leadership changes come amid an ongoing political crisis within the Kwara State APC.
While Governor AbdulRazaq and Senator Mustapha have publicly denied any political rift, signs of a silent power struggle between their camps continue to surface.
The recent reshuffling in the Assembly is seen as another indication of growing divisions within the party.
