
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Peter Dike for allegedly stabbing his 38-year-old wife to death in Oke Ira, Ilogbo Eremi.
According to a police report on Thursday, officers from the Morogbo Division received a distress call while on routine patrol on Wednesday.
Upon arriving at the scene, police officers found the woman lying lifeless in a pool of blood, with her husband present at the scene.
A bloodstained kitchen knife, suspected to be the murder weapon, was recovered from the suspect.
He was immediately apprehended and taken into custody at the police station, where he reportedly confessed to the crime during interrogation.
“Be informed that today, 19 March 2025, at about 11:25 hrs, (a) a team of detectives, while on surveillance township monitoring patrol at Oke Ira Ilogbo Eremi, got information that one Peter Dike ‘M’, living in Oke Ira Ilogbo Eremi, stabbed his wife to death. Hence, the team swiftly raced to the scene.
“Suspect arrested. One kitchen knife stained with blood was recovered from him. The lifeless body of his wife, aged 38 years old, (was) found in front of him in (a) pool of her blood.
“He was brought down to the station and interrogated accordingly. He confessed to having committed the crime,” the report read.
The victim’s body has been deposited at the General Hospital, Badagry morgue, for preservation, while the case is set to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, for further investigation.
“The corpse was removed and deposited at the morgue of General Hospital Badagry for preservation. The case will be transferred to SCID Panti Yaba,” it added.
Although the report did not give details as to why the suspect stabbed his wife to death, it appears to be a domestic dispute that turned fatal.
