NYCN Transition: Youth Passes Vote of No Confidence On Current Leadership

••• Urges Kwara Govt To Intervene

Concerned Youths under the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Kwara State Chapter has officially passed a vote of no confidence on the current leadership due to serious concerns regarding the elongation of tenure and non-compliance with the council’s constitution.

A statement received by 9japarrot media from the group disclosed that the decision comes after thorough deliberation among youth representatives across the 16 local government areas of Kwara State.

It is on record that the National President of Youth Council (NYCN) has earlier issued a directive that local government elections should be held in February then State election in March respectively, the group said.

The statement reads further;

The youths are troubled by the failure to conduct timely elections for new leadership at both the state and local government levels. The existing leadership has not only overstayed its mandate but has also neglected its constitutional obligation to facilitate a democratic transition, thereby undermining the principles of transparency and accountability that are essential for effective governance.

In light of these developments, we are calling on the Governor of Kwara State and the Commissioner for Youth Affairs to take immediate action to address these issues. It is imperative that governmental authorities restore integrity and confidence in the leadership of the NYCN in Kwara State by ensuring that elections are conducted without further delay.

Comrade Ali Nasiru led leadership has outstayed his tenure, his continuous stay is capable of causing youth unrest in Kwara State, as such undermines the “Youth Driven” administration of His Excellency Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, Executive Governor of Kwara State.
In the last one year, there is no single activities or major engagement with the youths of the State under present NYCN leadership.

The youth of Kwara State deserve a leadership that is active, accountable, and responsive to their plights. We believe that new leadership is crucial for revitalizing the council and empowering young people to actively participate in decision-making processes that affect their lives and future.

We urge all stakeholders, including government officials, youth organizations, and the general public, to join us in advocating for a swift resolution to this matter. The time for change is now, and we must work together to ensure that the voices of our youth are heard and respected.
