Jigawa Announces Monday 14th As Resumption Date



The Jigawa State Ministry of Basic Education has announced that all public and private schools across the state will resume academic activities on Monday, marking the beginning of the 2024/2025 third term.


Commissioner for Basic Education, Dr. Lawan Yunusa Danzomo, made the announcement during a press briefing held on Saturday at the ministry’s headquarters in Dutse, the state capital.

According to Danzomo, “All public and private schools in Jigawa State are expected to resume academic activities for the third term of the 2024/2025 academic session on Monday.”


He further explained that boarding students are to resume on Sunday, April 14, while day students are expected to report to school on Monday, April 15.

“The resumption marks the beginning of the final term of the academic session. Students are expected to make the most of this period to prepare for their final exams,” he said.

The commissioner appealed to parents and guardians to ensure their children return to school on the official resumption date, assuring them that the government has provided all necessary resources for effective teaching and learning.


“We have provided all the necessary teaching aids that will facilitate effective teaching and learning in schools,” he stated.

Danzomo also charged teachers to be present in their various schools from the first day of resumption, stressing that immediate commencement of academic activities is crucial.

“We have posted staff across the state to monitor the resumption process and ensure that lessons commence without delay,” he added.


He emphasized the importance of parental involvement, urging parents and guardians to support their children’s education by ensuring regular and punctual attendance.

“Parents and guardians are encouraged to support their children by ensuring they attend school regularly and punctually. This will enable students to maximise the teaching and learning process,” the commissioner said.

He reiterated the ministry’s commitment to maintaining quality education standards across both public and private schools in the state.
