••• CPS Ajakaye, Commissioner for Social Development, Rector Hails Students Creativity

In a bid to fostering practical learning, the student of the Department of Mass Communication, Kwara State Polytechnic, has launched a book titled “An Anthology of Stories on Campus”, aiming to captures real-life experiences, creative reflections, and narratives drawn from the vibrant world of campus life in the Polytechnic.
The unveiling ceremony, was held on Wednesday at the Rear Admiral Lawal Auditorium, Kwara State Polytechnic.
In his address, the Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara State Governor, Mallam Rafiu Ajakaye, commended the students for their outstanding efforts in showcasing their creativity right from the academic environment.
Ajakaye expressed confidence that publishing a book at this level would carve a unique niche for the budding journalists in their career pursuits.
In the same vein, The Honourable Commissioner for Social Development, Hajiya Nnafatimah Mariam Imam PhD gave nod to the book–describing it as a forward-thinking initiative capable of shaping the future of the media landscape positively.
Speaking at the event, the Rector of Kwara State Polytechnic, Engr. Dr. Abdul Jimoh Muhammed lauded the Mass Communication Department for creating an avenue for students to showcase their creativity.
The Rector represented by the Deputy Rector Administration, Dr. Mrs. Felicia Awolola, noted that the initiative reflects the department’s commitment to practical training and innovation, stressing that students are now actively practicing what they are taught in the classroom.
On his part, the Director of Institute of Information and Communication Technology (IICT), Dr. Agboola M.O said the project is a testament to the exceptional work and dedication of the Mass Communication Department in bridging gap between theory and practical.
In his remarks, the Head of Department of Mass Communication, Mr. Olohungbebe Fatiu explained that the project is part of the department’s vision to bridge the gap between town and gown.
Olohungbebe praised the leadership of the Rector for providing an enabling environment that encourages both staff and students to excel.
Addressing the students, the course lecturer who supervised the project, Mrs. Abdulwahab Aisha expressed joy and fulfillment at seeing the students successfully write and publish their first book, said “It’s a proud moment for all of us. Guiding them through the writing and publishing process has been a rewarding experience.”
