
Senator Lola Ashiru has taken a significant step towards empowering artisans in Kwara South with the distribution of tools to promote self-reliance.
The first phase of the tool distribution held today in Offa, Kwara State, drawing hundreds of beneficiaries from across the senatorial district.
The beneficiaries, drawn from various skilled trades, received specialized equipment tailored to their professions. Members of the Nigerian Automobile Technician Association (NATA) were each given a Tool Box (TOOL BOX 18″ PP 18″x10″x9″) alongside a Raider Professional Socket Set.
Barbers received hair clippers, towel warmer UV sterilizers, and power generators each support their daily operations. While hairdressers got Hair dryers, tailors received sewing machines to enhance their productivity.
In a move aimed at empowering the youth and enhancing digital literacy, young individuals selected for the ICT track were presented with HP Mini laptops to support their tech-related endeavours.
Present at the distribution centre were notable dignitaries, including Senior Legislative Aides and Legislative Aides to President of the Senate, Alhaji Omotosho Yunus, James Ogundele and Prince Bode Clement.
The disbursement is a continuation of the empowerment programme flagged off earlier in the week, organized in collaboration with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) and Ambidextrous General Contracting Ltd.
Speaking on behalf of Senator Ashiru, Mr. Olaboye reaffirmed the Senator’s unwavering commitment to tackling unemployment and promoting self-reliance through strategic empowerment.
He urged beneficiaries to make good use of the tools provided and become ambassadors of productivity and growth in their respective communities.
The disbursement of tools and equipment to artisans and empowerment of trainees will continue tomorrow.
