
Kwara State Football Team participating in the ongoing National Sports Festival tagged “Gateway Games 2024″has assured the government and people of the state of winning gold medal.
Team Captain, Dennis Sunday gave the assurance in a chat with newsmen following their 1-0 victory over Kaduna State to qualify them for the final.
Sunday expressed optimism that Kwara State would lift the trophy to justify State government investments on Team Kwara in the festival as he appreciated the supporters for their solidarity.
Also Speaking, the Team Striker, Mohammed Abdullahi popularly known as Suarez who scored 5 goals in 4 matches excited that Kwara is able to make it to final stage of the tournament.
Abdullahi expressed the confidence that the football team would make the state proud by lifting the trophy.
In his reaction, Chief Coach, Ajewale Ezekiel thanked Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, Executive Chairman, Kwara Sports Commission, Coach Bolakale Adisa Mogaji and Director of Sports, Alhaji Ibrahim Bako for giving him the privilege to tutor the team while promised not to let them down.
Also, Kwara State Football Association Secretary, Mr. Kashim Agaka said National festival is a game that cannot be predict coupled with type of team and players featuring in the sports fiesta.
Mr. Agaka noted that people thought Kwara would not make it but with the courage of Executive Chairman, Kwara State Sports Commission, Coach Bolakale Adisa Mogaji and Chairman Football Association, his Vice and Director of Sports Mallam Ibrahim, the team qualified for the final.
Earlier during Half-time, Director of Sports in Kwara State, Alhaji Ibrahim Bako motivated the players with the sum of Fifty Thousand Naira to spur them to put in their best to qualify for final.
Kwara will face host Ogun state who defeated Nigeria U-17 2-1 in the final slated for Tuesday 27th at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena by 6pm.
