Senator Sadiq Addresses Delays, Future Plans On Kaiama, Lafiagi FM Stations

Senator Sadiq Suleiman Umar (3SU), representing the Kwara North Senatorial District, has provided an update to his constituents regarding the ongoing FM radio station projects in Kaiama and Lafiagi.

These stations are intended to serve the two federal constituencies within the district.

Senator Umar expressed his “great delight” in providing the update on these projects, which he described as being “conceived with a strong sense of purpose” and envisioned as “legacy initiatives.” He emphasized that upon completion, the stations “will not only stand as monumental achievements but also serve as platforms for cultural promotion, social enlightenment, and educational development across the region.”

Acknowledging the unfortunate delay in project execution, Senator Umar stated, “it is important to acknowledge certain technical and administrative bottlenecks that have hindered smooth progress.” He clarified that “for the record, all necessary equipment for the stations has been procured and was scheduled for installation.” However, he noted that “the vandalization of the building in Lafiagi has necessitated a cautious approach moving forward.”

Looking ahead, Senator Umar announced that “in the coming days, consultations will be held with Local Government Chairmen, traditional rulers (Emirs), and community associations to deliberate on the ownership, licensing, maintenance, and staffing of the radio stations.” He stressed the criticality of these discussions “to ensuring the sustainability and effective operation of the stations.”

I sincerely appreciate you for your understanding and patience as we work towards delivering these transformative projects, He said while addressing the Constituents.
