Amofin Akogun Mourns Passing of Mrs. Beatrice Bamigboye At 76

Amofin Titilope Akogun has expressed heartfelt condolences to the Bamigboye family on the passing of Mrs. Beatrice Bamigboye, wife of the first Military Governor of Kwara State, Brigadier-General David Bamigboye.

Mrs. Bamigboye passed away at the age of 76, seven years after the transition of her husband. Her death marks the end of a remarkable chapter in the history of Kwara State, as she stood gracefully beside one of the state’s founding leaders during a transformative era.

Brigadier-General David Bamigboye’s legacy remains deeply woven into the fabric of Kwara’s development. His administration oversaw major milestones, including:

✅Construction of government secretariats in the state capital and all local government headquarters, providing vital infrastructure for civil service operations.

✅Development of waterworks across the state to ensure clean drinking water for residents.

✅Pioneering road projects such as the Oyo Bypass Road (now Ibrahim Taiwo Road) and various intra-state routes.

✅Establishment of Kwara Hotels in Ilorin to boost hospitality and tourism.

✅Creation of government secondary schools, technical colleges, and the Kwara College of Technology (now Kwara State Polytechnic) and the School of Nursing and Midwifery, both in Ilorin.

✅Founding of key economic and media institutions such as Kwara State Investment Corporation, Kwara Paper Converters, Erin-Ile Midland Stores, and Nigerian Television (NTV), later known as NTA Ilorin.

✅Launch of Kwara Food Production Company Ltd in 1973, known for its popular Eagle Rice brand.

✅Establishment of the Kwara State Council for Arts and Culture (1970) and the Kwara State Council (1969) amongst other notable achievements.

The Bamigboye family name is etched in the chronicles of Kwara State for laying the foundation of inclusive development, cultural identity, and institutional growth.

We are deeply touched by these enduring legacies and the lives they shaped. As we mourn the passing of Mrs. Bamigboye, we also remember and honor the tremendous impact of her husband.

May the Almighty repose the souls of both Late Gen. David Bamigboye and Mrs. Beatrice Bamigboye, and grant the family the strength to bear this great loss.
