The Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy (FMACTCE) under the distinguished leadership of Honourable Minister Hannatu Musa Musawa Esq., has successfully hosted the 68th Meeting of the United Nations Tourism Commission for Africa (CAF) in Abuja.

This pivotal event has effectively positioned Nigeria at the forefront of Africa’s tourism transformation agenda.

Declaring the event open on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima GCON reaffirmed Nigeria’s steadfast call for eco-friendly tourism policies, robust regional collaboration, and increased private sector investment.

These measures, he emphasized, are crucial to driving inclusive growth across the African continent.

In her keynote address, the Honourable Minister, Hannatu Musa Musawa, explicitly aligned the gathering with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. She eloquently described sustainable tourism, innovation, and the burgeoning creative industries as strategic pillars for Nigeria’s emergence as a global cultural and economic force.

Addressing the significant disparity in global tourism value, where over $11 trillion is generated worldwide but Africa contributes less than 5%, the Minister stressed the urgent need to bridge this gap. She highlighted that this could be achieved through “people-powered economies rooted in culture, creativity, and digital innovation.”

The landmark event successfully brought together ministers, influential industry leaders, and vibrant creatives from across Africa and beyond. All participants shared a unified commitment to reimagining African tourism for enhanced social impact, educational advancement, and widespread prosperity across the continent.
