President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Barrister Ismaeel Ahmed as the new Executive Chairman of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGi).
The appointment was announced in a press release by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy, on Friday.
In this role, Ahmed will be responsible for coordinating the activities of the PCNGi, a presidential initiative aimed at providing Nigerians with more affordable and cleaner energy alternatives. This initiative is a core part of the Tinubu administration’s palliative measures designed to lessen the impact of the fuel subsidy removal.
Barrister Ahmed, 45, is a seasoned professional with a strong educational background. He earned a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Abuja in 2005 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2006. He furthered his studies at Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri, USA, where he obtained a master’s degree in international relations, communications, and diplomacy in 2008.
Before this appointment, Ahmed served as the Senior Special Assistant on the National Social Investment Program to former President Muhammadu Buhari from 2018 to 2022.
