A youth-based advocacy group, “Like Minds For Dankaka,” has made a passionate appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to reappoint Dr. Muheebah Dankaka for a second term as the Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC).
The group made this plea during a press conference held on Saturday, where they addressed what they described as a smear campaign against Dr. Dankaka.
The group stated that the negative news and sponsored protests by “rented people” are tactics employed by elements unhappy with the unprecedented reforms and developments Dankaka introduced during her first tenure.
Speaking during the gathering, the group Coordinator, Mr. Adebayo Gafar, lauded Dr. Dankaka’s character and leadership qualities.
“According to the doctrine of our association, we have always known Dr. Muheebah Dankaka as a symbol of integrity, loyalty, an advocate for youth and human capital development, and a performer, even before her appointment as the Executive Chairman of the commission,” Gafar stated, adding that these qualities have been further proven during her first tenure as the FCC Executive Chairman.
Gafar also addressed the “media war” against Dankaka, calling it a deliberate attempt to silence her performance and damage her relationship with key stakeholders. He highlighted her commitment to staff welfare, noting that she has consistently prioritized a better working environment, earning her the trust and respect of the commission’s staff.
Buttering this sentiment, the group’s acting President, Bolaji Kammardeen Oladipo, appealed to President Tinubu to disregard the “naysayers.”
He argued that the protests against Dankaka are orchestrated by individuals who do not want the President’s “Renewed Hope” vision to succeed.
Oladipo emphasized that under Dankaka’s leadership, the FCC has witnessed significant growth and achievements, aligning with the President’s transformational agenda.
The Ag. Public Relations Officer, Oladoja Mudasir, further defended Dr. Dankaka, stating that the press conference was necessary to counter the “untrue news” being widely circulated.
He clarified that the “cooked-up stories” are not only against her dignity but are also “very untrue.”
Mudasir recounted a similar scenario from years past, where Dr. Dankaka was able to sailed through “better and stronger.” He said those elements are now regrouping because they cannot stand her “sterling performance, attributes, and leadership qualities,” leaving them with no option but to resort to “blackmailing and tantrums.”
The group collectively expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his unwavering support of Dr. Dankaka throughout her first tenure, acknowledging that her achievements would not have been possible without his backing.
They concluded with a final appeal for her reappointment, expressing their belief that a second term would allow her to complete the ongoing reforms she has already initiated, thereby solidifying the commission’s progress.
