Senator Sadiq Suleiman Umar, representing Kwara North Senatorial District, has strongly condemned the abduction of citizens by unknown gunmen in Lafiagi and parts of Edu Local Government Area early on Monday. The Senator extended his heartfelt sympathy to the affected families and the entire community, describing the incident as a “senseless attack” and an “affront to the peace-loving people” of the area.

In a statement released today, Senator Umar called the tragic event a “painful reminder of the threats we must all unite to confront.” He assured his constituents that he stands in solidarity with them during this trying moment.

Despite the understandable anger and frustration, Senator Umar appealed to the “resilient and courageous people” of Kwara North not to resort to self-help. He urged them to “remain calm and allow the security agencies to carry out their rescue and investigative missions professionally and without obstruction.”

The Senator particularly lauded the “swift response” of His Excellency, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and the Kwara State Government. He confirmed that additional security personnel have been deployed to the affected areas and a coordinated rescue operation is actively underway for those abducted. Senator Umar described these proactive efforts as “commendable” and a “beacon of hope.”

He further assured the public that he has been in constant touch with relevant security formations and government authorities, confirming that “all hands are on deck to ensure the safe return of the kidnapped individuals and the restoration of peace and normalcy” in the communities.

Emphasizing that the “safety and wellbeing of every citizen of Kwara North remain a top priority,” Senator Umar pledged his full commitment to supporting all ongoing efforts “until justice is served and our communities are secure once again.”

He concluded by calling for continued unity, vigilance, and prayers, expressing confidence that “together, we will overcome this difficult period and emerge stronger.”
