
The Senate Deputy Leader and Chairman of the Senate North Central Zone on the Constitutional Review Exercise, Senator Ashiru Oyelola Yisa, led a distinguished delegation of senators and stakeholders from the North Central zone to a two-day public hearing on the proposed amendments to the 1999 Constitution. The event, taking place in Jos, Plateau State, will be held between Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4, 2025.
The constitutional review exercise commenced with a courtesy visit to the Executive Governor of Plateau State at the New Government House, Rayfield, Jos. The visit underscored the importance of partnership between the legislative and executive arms of government in driving constitutional reforms that reflect the aspirations of the Nigerian people.
In his remarks during the courtesy visit, Senator Ashiru Oyelola Yisa emphasized the significance of the constitutional review process in deepening democracy, strengthening institutions, and addressing emerging socio-political challenges in the country. He noted that the North Central zone, known for its diversity and strategic importance, must actively contribute to shaping the future of Nigeria through robust engagements in the constitutional amendment process.
