Engr. Nurudeen Commissions Projects Worth Over ₦500m At FCE, Odugbo, Benue State


Engr. Nurudeen Adeyemi, the BOT member representing the North Central on the TETFund Board, has commissioned two major projects at the Federal College of Education, Odugbo, Benue State, on behalf of the President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

During the commissioning, Engr. Nurudeen Adeyemi commended the visionary leadership of the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa. In the same vein, he applauded the Chairman of the Board, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari who has been very supportive of the Board activities. According to Engr. Nurudeen, the Chairman has given tremendous leadership, guidance, and direction to TETFund. 

In his remarks, he also extolled the Executive Secretary of TETFund, Arch. Sonny Echono for ensuring that staff and management of the Agency are fully committed to executing the Fund’s mandate.

The commissioning took place as part of Engr. Nurudeen’s familiarisation visits to tertiary institutions in the geopolitical zone, aimed at assessing the impact of TETFund interventions and engaging institutions on prevailing challenges in the region.

The two projects — an Early Grade Reading Resource Centre and six blocks of furnished classrooms — are valued at ₦251,056,865.10 (Two Hundred and Fifty-One Million, Fifty-Six Thousand, Eight Hundred and Sixty-Five Naira, Ten Kobo) and ₦343,035,026.25 (Three Hundred and Forty-Three Million, Thirty-Five Thousand, Twenty-Six Naira, Twenty-Five Kobo), respectively. The total sum amounts to ₦594,091,891.35 (Five Hundred and Ninety-Four Million, Ninety-One Thousand, Eight Hundred and Ninety-One Naira, Thirty-Five Kobo).

According to the Provost, Prof. Joel Eriba, the facilities are expected to boost enrolment and improve academic delivery in the Institution. He acknowledged TETFund as the leading Interventionist Agency in Nigeria’s tertiary education sector.

Engr. Nurudeen commended the College management for the judicious use of its allocations to strengthen teacher education, particularly in support of the nation’s basic education sector.

The BOT member reiterated that President Tinubu’s administration remains committed to education and restoring stability across troubled zones in the country. He added that the President through the leadership of the Minister of Education is determined to remake and reshape the teaching profession in the country by making it a destination of choice for our youths in a bid to see a greater Nigeria become a reality.
