Ashiru’s Constitutional Review Committee Concludes Public Hearing in Jos

The Deputy Senate Leader, Senator Oyelola Ashiru on Saturday visited Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang after the completion of the 2-day public hearing on constitutional review.

Governor Mutfwang received Senator Ashiru who led North Central Senators to the Public Hearing at the Government House Jos.

He appreciated the Governor for the warm reception and cooperation during the event.

The Senate constitutional Review Committee successfully conducted a 2- day public hearing for North Central geopolitical zone.

The event brought together Traditional Rulers, North Central Senators, House of Assembly members from North Central States, Civil Society Organizations, Stakeholders, and citizen who actively participated in the deliberations, submitting memoranda on various critical issues.

Key areas of focus includes: Local Government Creation, request for Local Government Creation, System and Structure of Government, Institutional Reforms, Judicial Reform, Inclusive Governance, Devolution of Power and Local Government Reforms.

Others are Fiscal Reforms, Traditional Institution, Electoral Reforms, Legislative Reforms, Security and Policing, Citizenship, Fundamentals human rights and State creation request.

The Kwara South Senator said: “As Chairman of the North Central Senate Constitutional Review Committee, we are committed to ensuring that the voices and views of Nigerians are heard and adequately reflects in the constitutional amendments.

“This review process is crucial for deepening democracy, strengthening institutions, and addressing emerging socio-political challenges in the country.”
