Engr. Nurudeen Pays Working Visit to College of Education, Akwanga, Nasarawa State

The Board Member of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) representing the North Central zone, Engr. Nurudeen Adeyemi has paid a working visit to the College of Education, Akwanga, Nasarawa State. The visit was part of his ongoing assessment of TETFund interventions in beneficiary institutions across the region.

While addressing management and staff of the College, Engr. Nurudeen emphasized the importance of training competent and qualified teachers who can contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s national education goals and align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the guiding vision of the Honourable Minister of Education Dr. Tunji Alausa.

He noted that addressing the nation’s out-of-school children crisis requires not just policy efforts but deliberate investment in teachers’ training. “It is the aspiration of the President to take as many children as possible off the streets, equipping them with knowledge and skills to become productive citizens and drivers of national development,” he said.

Engr. Nurudeen also urged the College to prioritize the renovation of dilapidated buildings and ensure regular maintenance of existing infrastructure. He stressed that such efforts would enhance the quality of teaching and learning in the institution.

Citing data from the Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU), he highlighted that Nigeria currently has about 40 million pupils at the primary level, underlining the urgent need for qualified teachers to meet the growing demand in the basic education sector.

In his response, the Acting Provost of the College, Dr. Danladi Ibrahim, expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as the first of its kind since the institution became a TETFund beneficiary. He assured that the College would continue to foster a productive and mutually beneficial relationship with TETFund.
The familiarization is supported by the steady and capable leadership of the Board Chairman Excellency Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari and the Executive Secretary of TETFund Arch. Sonny Echono.
