The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially commenced its online accreditation process for journalists and media organizations intending to cover the forthcoming bye-elections scheduled for Saturday, August 16th, 2025.
The accreditation portal, accessible via https://imap.inecnigeria.org, was unveiled on Tuesday, July 8th, 2025.
In a notice released on Tuesday and seen by 9japarrot Media, the commission stated that the online portal will automatically shut down at 12:00 AM (Midnight) on Thursday, July 31st, 2025. Interested media organizations wishing to deploy journalists for coverage are therefore urged to apply within this timeframe.
INEC emphasized that late submissions will not be entertained once the portal automatically closes.
Media organizations or individual journalists with enquiries regarding the accreditation process can contact INEC through the provided helplines: 07088844564 and 08032861058.

The bye-elections on August 16th are expected to be held in various constituencies across different states, as announced by the commission.
This accreditation process is a standard procedure by INEC to ensure proper coverage and access for verified media personnel during electoral activities.
