Lagos APC Vows Victory In LG poll

The All Progressives Congress in Mushin Local Government Area of Lagos held a mega campaign rally on Tuesday, ahead of the upcoming local government elections in the state.

The party’s state leadership had, on June 17, officially presented flags to its 57 chairmanship and 376 councillorship candidates for the July 12 polls.

However, on Tuesday, APC leaders in Mushin held their campaign rally to formally present the council’s chairmanship and councillorship candidates to residents and to solicit support for the Saturday election.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Aremo Kufisile, said the programme provided the party leadership an opportunity to highlight the achievements of the APC-led government to the electorate and supporters.

Kufisile noted that the outgoing chairman of the local government, Emmanuel Bamigboye, had delivered a commendable performance, completing no fewer than 98 road projects across the council area.

“Today offers us the opposite to tell our people what this current administration has done and I can boldly say it has exceeded our expectations.

“The outgoing administration has carried out over 98 road projects, including this one you are standing on. This is in addition to several other projects like the building of health infrastructures. These and many more are what we will campaign with today,” Kufisile said.

He added that the impressive performance of the Bamigboye-led administration informed the party’s decision to field his vice chairman, Tunbosun Aruwe, as its chairmanship candidate to ensure continuity of the development efforts in the council.

Bamigboye said his administration had enjoyed a productive relationship with Aruwe and expressed confidence that the council would experience even greater development under his successor.

“Our works are already speaking. I couldn’t have achieved all that without the support of Aruwe, my able Vice. During my election, APC had 28,000 votes.

“On Saturday, we are aiming for 50,000 votes. Please support us,” the council chairman said.

Presenting the party’s flag to Aruwe, APC leader in the local government and member of the Governor’s Advisory Council, Senator Ganiyu Solomon, urged residents to vote for all APC candidates in the forthcoming election and continue to support President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“We are here to show you our candidates even though you all already know them. On Saturday, we want you all to vote for them because they come from a party with a rich prestige and pedigree.

“I also brought you glad tidings from our national leader, President Bola Tinubu. He has been performing excellently. And this is just the beginning.

“Please don’t mind those who are colluding against him. The President asked me to greet you all and that he would continue his good works,” Solomon said.

Dignitaries at the rally included a former member of the House of Representatives for Mushin Constituency II, Bolaji Ayinla; the current House of Representatives member for the constituency, Oluwatoyin Fayinka; and a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly for Mushin II, Olayinka Kazeem.

Others were the Special Adviser on Central Internal Audit to the Governor, Dr Iyabo Ayoola; Oba Sikirulahi Williams Osu Apena of Odi-Olowo Kingdom; Dr (Mrs) Iyabode Ayoola; Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Transportation, Toyin Aremu; permanent board member of the State Universal Basic Education Board, O.J. Falana; and the APC chairman in the local government, Alhaji Adisa Shittabey.
